Although founded nearly 200 years ago by the master founder Dr Samuel Frederick Christian Hahnemann, this traditional system of medicine has survived the test of time and yet not been accepted into or integrated with the world of Modern Medicine. The primary cause of this survival has been its generic yet sporadic success in local populations of people using individualistic treatments that often are extremely effective in chronic diseased conditions, although in critical cases, it has never had much success that can be scientifically validated and proven. As in any system of traditional medicine, the success of the practitioners have been largely localized and passed down from generation to generation without much extrapolation and collective attempts towards its development. The lack of scientific initiative in this system of medicine in adaptation of the Scientific Theory due to its differences in paradigm with the system of Modern Medicine has had many of its stalwarts debate over the effectiveness of the system, the paradigm difference being in the treatment of the masses statistically significantly versus the treatment of an individual, whereby medications are devised for the individual simplistically using the archaic milestones of Symptomatology as opposed to the state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures available today.

In fact, if one were to introspect the authentic Materia Medica of this system of treatment, which are all but at least a century old, one would observe that there is no room for the application of the most developed diagnostic procedures in the prognosis and monitoring of the treatment as the guidance of treatment is predominantly symptomatic, causing ample confusion amongst the practitioners of this system globally. In essence the paradigm of Modern Medicine post the Miracle Drugs Revolution initiated with the advent of Alexander Fleming’s Penicillin is based on the Scientific Theory demanding replicability and statistical significance, while that of the Homeopathic System demands the ultimate amelioration of symptoms of the suffering individual regardless of the diseased condition and the statistical significance of the remedy or drug used for that specific condition. If one were to delve a little deeper into the crevices of this paradigm, the essential problem one would arrive at is that often this system of medicine would ameliorate the symptoms, that is the manifestation of the diseased condition at the cost of maintaining the diseased condition as is often detected through the application of the latest diagnostic procedures on the patients under the treatment of the homeopathic practitioner. If you were to take for example the condition of any individual suffering from Cholelithiasis, or stones in the Gal Bladder, you would find the manifestation of the symptoms of nausea, bilious taste in the mouth, often a pain in the upper right abdominal region and chronic hyperacidity with an occasional constipation. The Homeopathic practitioner would typically select a medication for that specific individual patient based on his or her medical history and other parameters and prescribe it. Often enough the symptoms would very effectively disappear. However, in the absence of the Ultra-Sonography, sonogram, Ultra-Sound of the abdomen, the Gal Stone remains undiagnosed, and essentially untreated, although the manifested symptoms of the condition mentioned earlier are conveniently ameliorated, giving a false sense of healthiness to the individual treatment, which left untreated for a long enough time, (10 years or so) would easily be the cause of cancer on the walls of the Gal Bladder caused by the repeated injury of the Gal Stone against the Gal Bladder wall, often causing the formation of a cyst on the Gal Bladder wall turning cancerous over time. It is fallacies such as these that have prevented the system from being effectively developed further into the tenets of Modern Medicine.

Additionally, with the principle of minimal dosage being prominent in the system of this treatment, it is often that the medications are used in ultra high dilutions developed through a process of sequential fractional dilutions followed by a process of sonication, or succussion as termed homeopathically, the entire process being termed potentization, with the resultant drug being called the potency. This potency used, often contains drug concentrations far below that of the famous Avogadro Limit, causing yet another suspicion on the actual activity or effectiveness of the potentized drugs over and above the commonly recognized placebo effect. The rather individualized treatment system with different medicinal selections without any statistical significance adds more fuel to this fire, causing the proponents of Modern Medicine to more suspicion on the effectiveness of such a system of medicine rendering it unscientific and therefore unrecognized for the treatment of specific diseases. Hence, this traditional system of medicine has remained traditional far from the constructs of the Modern Medicine based on the tenets of the Scientific Theory.

The remedy to this paradigm problem is to effectively make the paradigm shift to the Scientific Theory with the development of disease specific drugs that may be effectively used in prognoses, using the very best of the latest diagnostic procedures and techniques in monitoring the conditions within controlled clinical environments, making that giant leap from the domain of faith to that of science and Modern medicine.
